    牡丹较耐寒，在菏泽市不盖土可顺利越冬，为防止意外损伤和春季干旱，尤其一、
二年生的幼苗抗逆能力差，仍需培土保温、保墒。每年10月下旬(霜降)后，先将地上
的一切枯枝碎叶扫净烧掉，然后从牡丹棵的四周掘土封墩。一、二年生的牡丹全埋，
三、四年生的可埋过植株的三分之二。五年以上的，仅在基部培土20cm左右。
    对二、三、四年生的牡丹地，浅翻一遍搂整平。
