    全市共有各类民办教育机构610处，其中民办高校3处，职业中专28处，在校学生6500余人；普通
中学88处， 在校学生9万余人，教职工8000人；小学50处，在校学生2.8万人，教职工3500人；幼儿园
353处；其他培训学校88处。总建筑面积210多万平方米，总投资20亿元。资产过千万元的有20家，过
亿元的有5家，出现了几所规模较大、知名度较高、办学有特色的学校，初步形成了公办学校和民办
学校共同发展的格局。2004年3月，全省民办教育中等教育现场会在临沂召开。
