    为扩大临沂城规模，建设临沂西郊新城，市、区决定合并兰山区的兰山办事处和大岭镇，成立工
贸开发区。开发区规划范围东起通达路，西至临西十一路，南起解放路，北至祊河南岸，约31平方公
里，辖35个居（村），近10万人；建成后，可实现工业产值200亿元，税收15亿元，商业营业额400亿
元，税收1亿元，新增城市人口40万。2002年1月16日，临沂市工贸开发区正式挂牌成立。
