    按照市委、市政府规划，城区2002年、全市2007年基本普及高中阶段教育的要求，一是积极发展
普通高中教育，进一步增加普通高中招生数量，扩大普通高中规模，满足人民群众的教育需求。2000
年新建普通高中4所，全市普通高中达到57所，普通高中招生4.63万人，比上年多招1万余人，加上中
等职业教育学校招生数，使全市初中毕业生升入高中阶段比率达到45.6%。二是启动了国家级示范普
通高中建设工程，在临沂一中建设9400平方米的综合科技楼，主体工程已经完工，投资200余万元。
