    王彦昌祖籍琅邪临沂。其祖上在东晋时随肃侯王彬（东晋宰相王导从弟，封都亭侯，谥肃）迁于闽，
遂为漳浦人。唐末，王彦昌官至检校司空。时值寇乱，王彦昌为保乡境安全，便率众捍御强梁，成为乡
邦的依靠。
