    聊城主要饲养蜜蜂，农户历史上多养土蜂，就地饲养，群体小、产蜜量少。1949年全县有蜂群113窝，产量2245公斤。1965年增至246窝，产蜜4727公斤。70年代，引进意大利蜂和苏联黑蜂。养蜂户多分布在李海务、梁水镇、堂邑、沙镇等公社。饲养方法，采取流动饲养：春天从云南到四川、湖南、河南信阳一带，逐油菜花放养；夏初到泰安采洋槐蜜，而后转聊城采枣花蜜、荫柳蜜；秋末去辽宁北票一带采荞麦蜜。一年三季蜜源不断。1983年，养蜂业发展到最高峰，全市达2200箱，产蜜8.25万公斤。由于蜜源受农药影响，1985年全市蜂群回落到1842箱，产蜜4.23万公斤。
