    1954年，地区能开展简单的检验工作。1962年增添了部分仪器设备，能开展副霍乱的疫源检索、流脑流行期健康带菌者调查，食品、食物中毒检测等项目。1966年，分微物生检验和理化检验。检验项目扩大到地方病、环境卫生、劳动卫生等常规检验工作。1985年，检验分20个室，开展的主要项目有细菌、病毒、理化的常规检验及部分特殊检验。共完成各种样品检验2.1万项。
