    新中国成立前，全区除武城县有1处榨油厂外，其他县（市）均由民间土榨。据1951年统计，全区有个体油坊1302户，香油坊566户。至1962年，全区兴建榨油厂6处，之后经过调整扩建，到1985年底，全区有县榨油厂5处，200型榨油机12台，年生产油脂308万公斤。乡村油脂加工厂324处，年生产油脂3000万公斤。
