    明代，莱芜的军事防务先后属沂州、青州兵备道管辖，境内无专管军事的机构。为保
证官方文书的安全快速传递和掌握军事消息，驻境官军设铺舍12处，配铺司铺兵54人，巡
拦4人。
    清末， 县衙署设立兵房。兵房设把总1人，负责全县的征募兵、练兵、兵器和军令事
宜。防务先后属沂州镇、兖州镇泰安营管辖，境内设有铺舍12处，铺兵19人。
