1997年， 莱芜市地方史志办公室搜集相关地情资料， 始进行市情资料库建设筹备工作。
2002年起，开始录入市情资料。2003年，市情资料库搭载山东省情网、山东省情资料库联
入互联网。2004年，莱芜市情网建成并上网运行，域名为http：//www.lwsqw.cn。市情资
料库以地方志和年鉴资料为基础，设市志库、年鉴库、人物库，上传《莱芜市志》《莱芜
年鉴》《莱芜概况》《莱芜钢铁》《莱芜古今》《莱芜文史》《齐长城》等资料。至2005
年，市情资料库共录入资料1500余万字。
