    1974年7月， 县地震办公室在口镇、牛泉、苗山设立微观测报点，为境内地震预
报之始。1975年，在莱芜养猪场、县兽医站设立动物观测点，上水河大队设立水井观
测点。1976年10月唐山地震后，全县共设立动物、水井、水库观测点21处，因系一哄
而起，经观察无利用价值。1980年，在上级业务部门指导下，逐步淘劣保优，确立莱
芜养猪场、市兽医站为动物观测点，上水河大队为水井观测点，莱芜二中、三中、八
中为微观观测点。1984年6月，3个微观观测点测值参考被否定，全部撤销，仅存上水
河水井观测点和市兽医站动物观测点。
