    1975年3月，莱芜机务段筹建组在莱芜东站建立，隶属济南铁路局。1980年8月投
产。生产能力为年洗修蒸汽机车1200台、架修190台。1981年1月改称机务段。历年架
修机车产量为，1981年42台、1982年43台、1983年43台、1984年44台、1985年44台、
1986年44台、1987年46台。
