    1959年3月，县科学技术委员会（科委）成立。1962年撤销，1963年5月恢复。1971年改称科研组，1977年又改称科技办公室，1978年恢复县科委。1989年11月，随市升格为地级市，市科委与市科协合并，为处级单位。杨崇淦任主任，贺奎林、韩公三任副主任。下设人秘科、业务科、科普科、学会科、农村能源办公室、科技信息情报站、地震办公室等科室。
