自1956年1月至1987年4月，经历七届政协威海市委员会，1990年3月至1998年2月经历三届政协环翠区委员会。人民政协依据长期共存、互相监督、肝胆相照、荣辱与共的方针，对党和政府的大政方针、重要事务，政策法令的贯彻，群众生活和统一战线中的重大问题，进行广泛地政治协商、民主监督和参政议政。
