    1929年前后，每年植树节前，县政府指派农民沿公路植树，因只栽不管，成效
甚少。建国后，先在泰莱公路栽植行道树和紫穗槐，后逐渐扩大绿化面，凡路基达
到6.5米的公路，均栽植树木。至1958年，全县共有行道树34705株、紫穗槐649526
墩。由公路站供应树苗，养路工和养路员管理，树权归国家所有。至1984年，境内
通车里程565公里，绿化里程438公里，其中干线公路170公里、市级公路129.5公里、
办事处公路138.5公里，绿化率达78％。
