    属临济宗，是华北著名丛林。明宣德三年（１４２８年），高丽
满空禅师登泰山重建竹林寺，复兴普照寺。清康熙九年（１６７０年），名僧
元玉于佛降诞之日，在普照寺依古制建坛传戒。中院大雄宝殿祀释迦鎏金铜像
。建国后多次修葺。
