    1991年后，全市卫生防疫机构依法开展辖区内卫生监督、监测工作，按照《食品卫生法》《传染病防治法》《母婴保健法》《献血法》《执业医师法》《职业病防治法》《公共场所卫生管理条例》《学校卫生工作条例》《医疗机构管理条例》《放射性同位素与射线装置放射防护条例》《传染病防治法实施细则》等卫生法律法规完成监督执法任务。2005年12月16日，济宁市卫生局卫生监督所挂牌成立。全市12个县（市、区）相继成立卫生监督机构，作为同级卫生行政部门履行行政执法职能的执行机构，具体承担卫生法律法规的执法监督任务。
