境内近代金属加工企业可溯源至1917年建立的济宁永顺铁厂。主要生产一些铸铁
件，生产规模较小。至建国前夕，境内金属加工工业基本上没有发展。建国后，先后
兴办了一些机床及机床附件加工生产企业，经过几十年的发展，逐步形成了包括机床
及其附件、配件、液压件、紧固件、金属切削工具、轴承工业等门类比较齐全的金属
加工工业体系。
