    1985年12月24日， 青岛市体育馆破土动工，馆址位于汇泉广场南端，占地约6公
顷，总建筑面积为18154平方米，其中比赛馆12180平方米，练习馆及其他辅助设施为
2696平方米。1990年11月14日建成验收，共投资4530万元。
    该馆外型近似舰船，平面又呈卵形。设计新颖，造型别致，功能齐备，设施先进。
不仅可进行篮球、排球、乒乓球、羽毛球、体操等多项体育比赛，而且还可安排大型
文艺活动。观众座席可容纳6653人。
