    解放前修筑的公路路面大都为土路或简易砂石路面。解放后，路面的铺筑由低级
向中级、次高级和高级的方向发展，过去的土路或砂石路面，多已被沥青路面所代替
。截至1985年底，全市公路已铺筑各种路面达1230.6公里，占公路总里程的89.6％。
其中，高级、次高级路面809.2公里，中级路面106公里，低级路面315.4公里。
