    菏泽，古称曹州，位于山东省西南部，与苏、豫、皖三省交界，省内与聊城、泰
安、 济宁等地市接壤，面积12153.6平方公里，人口805.17万，辖菏泽市和定陶、曹
县、 单县、成武、巨野、郓城、鄄城、东明8县。早在原始社会，尧、舜、禹、汤都
在这里生活过，悠久的历史给古曹州留下了丰富的文化遗迹。菏泽牡丹自古就有“甲
于海内”之说，早在明嘉靖年已享盛名，如今种植面积已达1万多亩。经过开发建设，
菏泽已形成以曹州牡丹为主，其他方面配套的旅游业发展格局。
