　　新中国建立前，人口调查研究工作开展极少。新中国建立后，为适应社会主义
现代化建设的需要，山东对全省人口及人口问题进行了大量的调查和研究。1953-
1988年，先后进行了3次人口普查、13次人口抽样调查和专项调查，并坚持了经常
性的户口登记。在人口理论研究方面，建立了研究机构，扩大了科研队伍，取得了
一批质量较高的研究成果。人口调查和人口理论研究，为制定经济发展规划、解决
山东人口问题提供了重要的基础资料和理论依据。
