    春秋末年鲁国人，一说宋国人。字子贱
。他注意修养，有君子之德，《公冶长》载孔子称赞他为“君子哉若人”。《
吕氏春秋·察贤》记载，他为单父宰时，用“无为而治”的办法来治理，结果
是“身不下堂而单父治”。当他向孔子述其政绩以后，孔子称赞说：“惜哉！
不齐所治者小，所治者大则庶几矣。”（《史记·仲尼弟子列传》）意即宓不
齐还可以做更大的官。唐开元二十七年（７３９年）追封“单伯”。宋大中祥
符二年（１００９年）加封“单父侯”。明嘉靖九年（１５３０年）改称“先
贤宓子”。
