    孔子创办私学，收徒授业，培养了一批儒学传承人。由于孔子的影响及弟
子本人的德行业绩，他们同孔子一样，也受到历代帝王的尊崇。

    《史记·孔子世家》载：“孔子以《诗》、《书》、《礼》、《乐》教，
弟子盖三千焉，身通六艺者七十有二人。”但历来对孔子弟子人数的说法并不
一致。据《史记》、《孔子家语》及《阙里文献考》等记载及后世学者的研究
，可考为孔子弟子者９５人。其中，历史记载较多、事迹可考者２８人。
