　　筹建于1952年，1953年7月开放。建馆之初，仅设采编、阅览两部，藏书1.7万
册，馆舍面积328平方米。1966年，藏书达40万册，馆舍面积增至1000平方米，年
接待读者20万人次。1986年5月，面积为9000平方米的新馆大楼建成后，该馆的组
织机构也进行了调整。原少儿阅览室扩建为济南市少年儿童图书馆(仍归市馆统一
领导)。调整后的组织机构分采编、特藏、研究辅导、中文借阅、报刊借阅、科技
服务、外文借阅7个业务部。1987年，该馆还成立了面向全省招生的图书馆职工中
专函授学校。
