　　70年代中期开始，省内潍坊柴油机厂等一些企业开始研究利用铁屑代替铸造铁，
并取得了经验。全省年产铁屑10万吨左右，如果全部利用，可节省生铁7万吨左右。
省革委清仓节约办公室于1978年9月份召开会议，予以推广。
