    以铜铸币，起初取象实物，铸成铲、刀、环等形状，在不同的区域行使。后来
统一为外圆内方的方孔铜钱，又经过以币材重量为钱名和直接作为通行宝货两个阶
段。明、清两代，则把本朝官铸铜钱称为制钱。外国货币流入以后，才出现铜元。
