    保险业务，一般有财产保险、人身保险两大类。中华人民共和国成立后，增加
了农业保险和涉外保险。1959～1979年期间，停办国内保险业务，涉外保险一直没
有中断。人民保险公司除在保险责任范围内办理赔款外，还把防灾防损作为保险公
司的职能之一，并成为社会防灾减灾工作的重要组成部分。
