　　在民国时期，山东公路全为土路，多系旧有驿道和大车道改建而成。路基狭窄，
弯多坡陡，穿越村庄，缺桥少涵，技术状况低下。新中国成立后，山东公路有计划
地进行了恢复、整修和建设。1985年，山东省有干线公路126条14069.7公里，占公
路总里程的38.8％；县公路14396.9公里，占39.6％；乡公路6765.6公里，占18.6
％；专用公路1094.8公里，占3.0％。
