　　山东公路汽车客运始于清光绪三十三年(公元1907年)青岛台柳公路的汽车客运
班车，1928年后发展较快。1935年，全省客运路线7000余公里，客运量63万人次。
抗日战争时期，沦陷区旅客运输受制于日本侵略者，商营运输企业备受摧残。新中
国建立后，经过36年的发展，到1985年，山东公路客运线路成网，站点密布，班次
频繁。专业运输企业的客运量比1949年增长188.8倍，周转量增长96.7倍，其中
1981～1985年客运量平均每年增长1400余万人次。
