　　1887年，李宗岱创办的平度金矿局在旧店金矿首次使用风动凿岩机时，就配备
了空气压缩机。
　　新中国成立后，国产风动凿岩机逐步推广使用，各矿山都配备了相应的空气压
缩机。1975年以后，黄金矿山建设时均建有空气压缩机站，各金矿根据用风量配备
每分钟风量10、20直至40立方米的空气压缩机，以便灵活调剂用风。有些小型矿山
在建设初期或用电困难时，也使用移动式空气压缩机(系柴油机带动)。
