　　日照市位于山东海岸线的最南端，1982年建自然保护区。区内海岸线长达95公
里，有平山、车牛山和达山3座海岛，大小山头600余座，山滩已基本绿化。有较大
河流33条，集水548平方公里的大型日照水库1座，为各种鸟类栖息繁衍创造了良好
条件。尤其三座岛上杂草丛生，无污染，是鸟类理想的繁殖地。岛上有全国稀有鸟
类黑叉尾海燕、扁嘴海雀、黄嘴白鹭、海鸬鹚等鸟类128种，还发现有世界上极为
珍贵的黑喉潜鸟。区内有鸟类22目，44科，200多种。该市驯养灰喜鹊防治松毛虫
的经验已在全国18个省(市)区推广。
